18 Holiness to the Lord

Image
Holiness to the Lord Holiness to the Lord “Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy” ( Leviticus 19:2 ). We have a temple to help us prepare and to learn how to become holy. Ancient Israel had the portable temple, the Tabernacle in the wilderness. Animal sacrifice invited the Israelites to look forward to the coming of Jesus Christ, who is the Savior of the world. He sacrifice Himself to make it possible for us to be forgiven and to be resurrected. Baptism, the sacrament, and temple worship invites us to look towards the Savior also as the Lamb of the World, who continues to rescue and deliver us all. What are you willing to sacrifice to have the Spirit to be with you, so that you can become holy, without spot. “I am able to make you holy” ( Doctrine and Covenants 60:7 ). Leviticus The Lord wants me to become holy. Exodus 35–40 ;  Leviticus 19 Exodus 35–40 Table activity. What object did you find? What can it represent? What object...

The Tabernacle and Sacrifice The Tabernacle and Sacrifice The Tabernacle was a portable temple for the children of Israel while they sojourned in the wilderness. Though they had chosen at that time not to enter into God’s presence, they were still preparing for the time that they would be able to do that. The Law of Sacrifice helped them look forward to the Coming of Christ, and there worship in the temple helped them develop the covenant relationship with the Lord as they learned more about His love and His laws. Similarly, we go to the temple to worship, to serve, and to learn about our Savior Jesus Christ and prepare to one day enter into His presence. Alma 25:16 16  Now they did not suppose that salvation came by the law of Moses; but the law of Moses did serve to strengthen their faith in Christ; and thus they did retain a hope through faith, unto eternal salvation, relying upon the spirit of prophecy, which spake of those things to com...

17 All That the Lord Hath Spoken We Will Do

All That the Lord Hath Spoken We Will Do All that the Lord Hath Spoken We Will Do Moses read the law at the foot of Mt. Sinai, and the people said, Exodus 24:7 “All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.” God called Moses back into the Mt. Exodus 25:8 “And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.” The people had said that they would be obedient, but when Moses was speaking with the Lord, learning about his word and how the people could have God’s presence with them, the people were making an idol god to worship instead. When we promise to always remember Him, do we remember, or do we choose idol gods, too? I am thankful that the Lord always remembers us, even when we have not always remembered Him. Exodus 34:6 6  And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ...

15 Remember This Day, in Which Ye Came Out from Egypt

Remember This Day, in Which Ye Came Out from Egypt Remember This Day, in Which Ye Came Out from Egypt Exodus 7:5 ; 9:14 The Lord will deliver Israel with a mighty hand. There is none like Him in all the earth! Although there were many plagues, miracles don’t convert by themselves, nor do they free us from doubt or hardening our hearts, unless we turn in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ. With the tenth plague, Pharaoh shooed the people out of the land, but even after that he hardened his heart. The main thing to remember from this last event is the grandeur of the Lord who is the Lamb of God. It is He alone that can free us and make us whole. The Passover was instituted as a standing memorial from year to year, so that the children of Israel would remember what great things the Lord had done for them, and to point them forward to the sacrifice He would make for them as the Lamb of God. I can choose to soften my heart. Exodus 7–11 We need to remember that because of agency,...
