7 Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord
7 Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord
Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord
Joseph
Smith—Matthew 1:41 But as it was in the days of Noah, so it shall be
also at the coming of the Son of Man;
In the world during Noah’s day, there was a flood of evil.
Today there is also a flood of evil all around us.
Genesis
6:12–13 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come
before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and,
behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Moses
8:28 8 The earth was corrupt before God,
and it was filled with violence.
Moses
8:27 What am I doing personally in my life to find grace in the eyes of the
Lord? What did Noah do?
Ether
1:33–43 Both Noah and the Brother of Jared found grace in the sight of God,
because they sought Him in prayer and they kept His commandments; and they
helped their families to draw near to God as well.
There is spiritual safety in following the Lord’s
prophet.
Genesis 6; Moses 8
What is similar to our day? Wickedness in growing, and the
gospel is being preached throughout the world. Today, the wickedness is
growing; righteousness among those who choose to be Saints is also growing.
20 And it came to pass that Noah called upon the
children of men that they should repent; but they hearkened not unto his
words;
22 And God saw that the wickedness of men had become
great in the earth; and every man was lifted up in the imagination of
the thoughts of his heart, being only evil continually.
22 And God saw that the wickedness of men had become
great in the earth; and every man was lifted up in the imagination of
the thoughts of his heart, being only evil continually.
23 And it came to pass that Noah continued
his preaching unto the people, saying: Hearken, and give heed unto my
words;
24 Believe and repent of your sins and
be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, even as our
fathers, and ye shall receive the Holy Ghost, that ye may have all things
made manifest; and if ye do not this, the floods will come in upon you;
nevertheless they hearkened not.
28 The earth was corrupt before God, and it was
filled with violence.
We have a prophet in our day, just like Noah was a prophet
in his day.
Moses
8:13–30 16 And it came to pass that Noah prophesied, and
taught the things of God, even as it was in the beginning.
19 And the Lord ordained Noah after his
own order, and commanded him that he should go forth
and declare his Gospel unto the children of men, even as it was given
unto Enoch.
20 And it came to pass that Noah called upon the
children of men that they should repent; but they hearkened not unto his
words;
23 And it came to pass that Noah continued
his preaching unto the people, saying: Hearken, and give heed unto my
words;
24 Believe and repent of your sins and
be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, even as our
fathers, and ye shall receive the Holy Ghost, that ye may have all things
made manifest; and if ye do not this, the floods will come in upon you;
nevertheless they hearkened not.
27 And thus Noah found grace in the
eyes of the Lord; for Noah was a just man, and perfect in his
generation; and he walked with God, as did also his three sons, Shem,
Ham, and Japheth.

The Flood was an act of God’s mercy.
Genesis
6:5–13
Genesis 6:7 Why did God choose to destroy man whom He had
created?
Elder Neal A. Maxwell explained that at the time of the
Flood, “corruption had reached an agency-destroying point that spirits could
not, in justice, be sent here.”
Enoch had been shown that Jesus Christ would atone for the
sins of the world, including the people at the time of Noah. And those people
would be taught the gospel in the Spirit World, giving them the chance to
repent and progress and make covenants with God.
The Flood was an act of God’s mercy.
Genesis
6:5–13
